Disaster City is a town build game on a two dimensional island. You can build houses to be populated, shops to service the new population, Rescue Stations to help with any disasters, tourist attractions and hotels to attract tourists and roads and bridges to join all these together.
The game starts promisingly with cute graphics and sound effects. Quickly you will have a small community buzzing on your screen. However it will never get much further, as although this game does what it does very well, its depth is desperately lacking.
The two dimensional view quickly limits the number of properties you can build. In fact it takes away the usual planning issues that can be so fun to solve in many isometric and three dimensional strategy games. Plus after building the initial properties not many new options appear over time.
What is in the game has been delivered to an excellent standard, but ultimately it lacks needed depth to keep any strategy fan engaged beyound an hour.
