And when I think of football games I think of Pro Evo, Fifa, Championship Manager and of course Sensible Soccer. For Sensible Soccer was really the father of all modern football playing games, and of all the series Sensible World of Soccer (SWOS) was by far the most successful. So how do I play that for free?...
Eat The Whistle is a side-scrolling football game which looks and plays very like SWOS, so much so if you turn your monitor on its side so the goals are at the top or bottom of your screen then you could easily confuse them. From the menu system to the way the players run and tackle this is just like playing SWOS all over again.
To be fair, this is a great game in its own right and if I did actually play SWOS straight after Eat The Whistle I expect they are quite a bit different. However I haven't and as such this is quite like what I remember. Just do not expect anything ground-breaking, just good arcade footy fun.
Did I mention you can import SWOS teams? Well you can.
