First there was a strategy game called SimCity where you made your own city. Then there was others like SimFarm, SimIsle, SimAnt and so forth where you made a farm, your own tropical island and ant colony. These were by the same company - Maxis.
Then came a load of games by other companies and individuals, with similiar names. There was the Transport Tycoon series and in a slightly different direction came Tamagotchi and all its variants that are freely available on the net.
Then comes this game. This game is very close to the idea of Tamagotchi and virtual pets, yet it is called SimSheep, the second version I presume. You take control of a sheep and after giving it some initial abilities in eating, fighting, fatness and how social it is your sheep is plunged into a field with other like minded creatures.
The object of this is simple, do whatever you want. Play with other sheep (spend enough time with others to make them fall in love with you), eat, sleep, jump around, fight or even throw a party! At first this game was great fun. Five out of five I thought. Then I played it a bit longer, okay I thought, perhaps four then.
After another half an hour I've trained my sheep named Bob to be the ultimate sheep and excels with 100% in every ability as well as 100% in the morality stakes. Boredom strikes in. So, thinking this would be fun, I decide to throw a party.
In come the 'Party Sheep' and the music starts pumping out. What now? Well first with my 100% strength no sheep is going to scare me, so I kill a cocky party sheep. Then once he's out of the way I have a one night stand with his girlfriend. Excellent, I think, I must be a rebel now. But no, my morality is still 70% - an alround good sheep!
Now I'm bored of the game.
